Video FA1833 – Instant Replay System (IRS)

Blue-14 shoots for a field goal, the ball enters the basket and the Officials award 3 points.
The officials become uncertain as to whether the shot was released from the 3-point field goal area.
The IRS review is used to decide whether the successful field goal shall count for 2 or 3 points.
The final decision is award 2 points to Team Blue because the Blue-14’s shot was released from the 2-point field goal area.

The crew chief is authorized to use an Instant Replay System (IRS) to decide, during any time of the game, whether the successful field goal shall count for 2 or 3 points.

CONSIDER THIS PROTOCOL:

FINAL DECISION
After making the final decision, Crew Chief runs or sharp walks and reports it in front of the scorer’s table. The decision must be clear. Both coaches may be briefly informed verbally, if necessary.
